Suicide is a national issue we can all help address.
VA is working hard to prevent suicide. We know that only half of this nation’s 20 million Veterans receive care or services from VA and we cannot do this alone. How do we support all Veterans living in our communities? It takes a team of partners in the community to prevent suicide.
No single factor causes suicide. No single agency can prevent suicide.
If you are part of a community located in Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont, please join VA New England as we come together to share resources and develop and strengthen partnerships in support of our shared mission of preventing suicide for Veterans, military service members, and their families.
Topics will include embracing a public health model for suicide prevention; strengthening our community partnerships; the role of faith communities in supporting Veterans; recognizing the signs of suicide risk and how to support a person in crisis, including safe messaging; lethal means education; discussion of the role of peer to peer support; and information regarding the NH Governor’s Challenge to prevent suicide among Service Members, Veterans, and Families.
Please join us at this event so that we can join together to support all Veterans where they live, work, and thrive.
Everyone has a role to play in protecting the ones who have protected us.
