In a master-class like setting geared specifically towards choristers and cantors, this introductory music education course will focus on various aspects of music theory and its direct application to choral and ritual music. Participants should be currently involved in a choir (church, community chorus, theater, etc), section leader or cantor. The course will cover:

  • Clefs, Time signatures & Key signatures
  • Note names & values
  • Rests
  • Dynamics
  • Rhythms
  • Breathing
  • Music terms
  • Chanting
  • Score reading and preparation
  • Tonality
  • Web-resources
  • Group input/directive
