Mar. 20: Manchester Prayer Vigil for Dreamers

Download the Prayer Vigil handout here.

It was frigid, but the people came and sang and prayed! About 25 people of faith met at Grace Episcopal Church Manchester to hold our Dreamers and DACA recipients in prayer while the President visits the city. Telemundo covered the Vigil and should broadcast about it soon!

At least four denominations were represented as we prayed for President Trump during his visit to our state. We pray that the President will find it in his heart to take strong action to protect all our Dreamers, including the 400 who live right here in NH. We also pray that the President will extend support to all our hard working immigrant neighbors who contribute so much to our economy and our well-being as a nation.

Close to the celebrations of Passover and Easter, this Prayer Vigil wasa series of readings from the Torah summarizing the story of the Exodus. Each reading is a compilation of verses from various books and chapters, from the Jewish Publication Society Tanakh. Songs were drawn from the Interfaith Prayer Vigils for Immigrant Justice and from the broader social justice movement. After each song, we read a prayer in unison. After each prayer, we will leave a space for silence for the spoken and unspoken prayers for our President that are on our hearts.

Other prayers come from the Local Team Immigrant Solidarity Network Team Guide, developed by GSOP and the NH Council of Churches.
