Our churches have veterans in their pews. This means that every minister should be ready to provide pastoral care to veteran-specific needs. New Hampshire has a program Ask the Question NH to help care-givers of all kinds understand these needs.

Their basic method is for care-givers to ask the question, “Have you or a family member served in the military?” This question and its answer will help you in:

• Identifying families in need of extra help because of service-related stressors.
• Motivating communities to come together on behalf of those who serve.
• Connecting military families to the supports and services they need.
