Death Penalty Repeal

The Council welcomed Shane Claiborne, a Christian author and death penalty abolitionist, to speak at churches in Manchester and Durham. Two large crowds heard him address the faith-based reasons for opposing capital punishment.

Immigrant Solidarity

The Council supports and guides churches that want to provide sanctuary to families fearing deportation. We have also consistently lead prayers for those families, many of whom are members of churches in New Hampshire.

Opioid Crisis Response

The Council made new partnerships with churches to respond to the opioid crisis. Many churches already provide faith-based recovery ministries or fostering the children of the addicted. We help them work together to serve more people.

Elimination of Poverty

Rev. William Barber trained Council leaders after his call for a New Poor People’s Campaign, modeled on the work of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Council helps churches recover the language of morality as we seek to alleviate poverty.
