Volunteering and service during COVID-19

The NH Council of Churches is in communication with Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD). We have listened to New Hampshire’s unique volunteer needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please look below for substantial ways that your congregation can make a real difference!

The Council will continue to update this page whenever VOAD issues new needs to address. Please check back often!

Host a blood drive: Churches frequently host blood drives and there is a great need for host locations and volunteers. If you offer your space or recruit volunteers, the Red Cross will provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and enforce social distancing. This will keep everyone safe and respect your church’s distancing policies. If you wish to host, please visit this Red Cross web page and click “Hosting a Blood Drive.”

Volunteer in Emergency Shelters: Many churches volunteer in our state’s homeless shelters. Right now, there is increased need for locations and volunteers. As shelters implement social distancing policies, guests must be spaced out more, needing more facilities. In order to staff those facilities, more volunteers are needed. Please visit this FIT-NH web page for specific locations, dates and times to volunteer.

Other Needs: Governor Sununu encourages everyone to work with Volunteer NH. Agencies doing good work have posted their volunteer needs. If your individually or your church can contribute to the volunteer needs listed here, then you can get connected! Click here for the Volunteer NH website.
